Marvel at the ornate library where Lord Grantham holds court, the elegant drawing room where the Crawley women gather, and the grand staircase that served as the backdrop for countless dramatic moments.

Fans will relish the chance to walk through these spaces, connecting directly to the world of Downton Abbey.

I highly recommend our driver & guide Dean, for he is knowledgeable, professional and resourceful. This was a study trip for my husband & I where we especially wanted to visit Oxford where C.S. Lewis wrote, worshipped and taught. Visiting the C.S. Lewis home, the “Kilns”, was a first for all of us. Walking in Oxford along Addison’s Road on the River Thames was a dream come true. The small church near Lewis’ home was hard to find, but we did. Going inside and seeing the window by his pew from the Chronicles of Narnia was a highlight. I appreciated experiencing where Charles Dickens lived as a young boy by the London docks that inspired him to write classics such as Oliver Twist. Dean made it possible on our trip to Dover to see the White Cliffs from England’s side.

Uncover the Rich History of the Castle

Guided by an expert storyteller, delve into the 1,300-year history of Highclere Castle.

Learn about its transformation from a medieval palace to the Victorian masterpiece seen today, and hear fascinating tales of its role both on-screen and in British heritage. Every room and hallway carries stories that blend the fictional world of Downton Abbey with real-life aristocratic history.

Stroll Through the Iconic Gardens

The grounds of Highclere Castle, as majestic as its interiors, provide the perfect setting for fans to relive outdoor scenes from the series.

Wander through manicured lawns, vibrant flowerbeds, and serene parklands that served as the backdrop for key moments. The gardens are a visual treat and a vital part of the estate’s charm.

I just wanted to write a quick note to say how wonderful our private tour from London to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath was. Our expert driver, Kyri was amazing. He was so personable and kind. He kept us well informed and on time. He made sure we were so well taken care of. And to the our pleasure he booked us a lunch at the cutest pub with fantastic food and stopped at a few great photo spots for us! We loved our tour and will be recommending you to others who may ask!

Lacock Village & Abbey: A Journey Through Time

Historic half-timbered and stone houses in the picturesque village of Lacock, England, under a cloudy sky
Village of Lacock, England

On our Downton Abbey day trip, Lacock serves as a perfect stop to explore the quintessential English charm that made it a prime filming location for the series.

With its grid of streets and stone cottages, Lacock has remained largely unchanged since the 19th century, offering a glimpse into a bygone era.
Its timeless atmosphere was used in Season 6 to recreate a 1920s livestock market, and it appeared in the Downton Abbey movie.

Walking through the village, you’ll discover traditional stone cottages, the medieval tithe barn, and the old lock-up, immersing yourself in the setting that brought Downton Abbey to life.

Lacock Abbey

The Abbey itself, nestled in wooded grounds, is a fascinating mix of history, artistry, and film heritage.

Originally a 13th-century nunnery, it evolved into a country house and became the birthplace of modern photography when William Henry Fox Talbot invented the photographic negative here. His groundbreaking work is celebrated in the Abbey and an on-site photography museum.

Fans of Downton Abbey will appreciate its enchanting atmosphere, while movie enthusiasts will recognize it from films such as Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter. Wander through its medieval cloisters, explore furnished rooms, and admire the extraordinary Gothick hall.

Bampton Village: A Real-Life Downton Village

Bampton Village, England

Bampton Village, steeped in Anglo-Saxon history and prosperity from the wool trade, plays a starring role in Downton Abbey as the fictional Downton Village.
On your private tour, your guide will steer you through its iconic streets and landmarks, which bring key moments in the drama to life.

Mary’s Church: A Downton Landmark

St. Mary’s Church, with its striking spire visible across the Thames Valley, is one of the most recognizable Downton Abbey locations.

It served as the village church where many pivotal events in the series took place, including weddings, funerals, and christenings. As you explore the church, imagine yourself stepping into scenes featuring the Crawley family and the villagers.

The Old Grammar School: Downton Cottage Hospital

The Old Grammar School Building, now home to the Bampton Community Archive, was transformed into the Downton Abbey Cottage Hospital.

Explore the Streets of Downton Village

As you stroll through Bampton’s quaint streets, you’ll recognize many of the locations used in Downton Abbey. The charming stone cottages, historic buildings, and local landmarks formed the backdrop for countless scenes of daily village life in the series.
