I highly recommend our driver & guide Dean, for he is knowledgeable, professional and resourceful. This was a study trip for my husband & I where we especially wanted to visit Oxford where C.S. Lewis wrote, worshipped and taught. Visiting the C.S. Lewis home, the “Kilns”, was a first for all of us. Walking in Oxford along Addison’s Road on the River Thames was a dream come true. The small church near Lewis’ home was hard to find, but we did. Going inside and seeing the window by his pew from the Chronicles of Narnia was a highlight. I appreciated experiencing where Charles Dickens lived as a young boy by the London docks that inspired him to write classics such as Oliver Twist. Dean made it possible on our trip to Dover to see the White Cliffs from England’s side.

The Bodleian Library

Oxford University - Bodleian Library

The Bodleian Library is the main research library of the University of Oxford and is one of the oldest libraries in Europe.

It derives its name from its founder, Sir Thomas Bodley. With over 13 million printed items, it is the second-largest library in Britain after the British Library.

Our guide provided unexpected insights into the locations we visited. Mark did a great job and had many fascinating stories he shared as we traveled with him. We loved Blenheim and Oxford and seeing Churchill’s grave in Bladon.

Oxford Botanic Garden

Founded in 1621, Oxford University’s Botanic Garden is the oldest in the UK and one of the oldest scientific gardens in the world.

Located near Magdalen College, this 5-acre (2-hectare) garden is home to nearly 6,000 types of plants, representing more biodiversity than any other collection of similar size.
